Five stars are not enough! Jessi, Dean and Roxanna have been absolutely wonderful with my fur baby Riley! For starters, I ALWAYS come home with a tired dog. He has never come home with any cuts, puncture wounds or anything like that. This morning I had mentioned a concern I was having with him. When I picked him up tonight, they had been working on a solution for me, went out of their way to go into detail, and make me feel comfortable with this solution. Jessi made sure to give me the teachings to be able to be successful with it as well.
They have gone above and beyond any and all expectations I had of them. I feel so safe having my fur baby in their care, and I can tell by the way he acts when we reach the bottom of the hill that he is so excited to be going too!
I recommend them 100%! If you haven’t taken your dog to see them, do it, you won’t be disappointed!

I can’t say enough good things about Canine Proficiency Center in North Bay, Ontario! This is by far the best doggy daycare I’ve ever visited, and I’m so grateful to Dean and Jessie for creating such a welcoming and supportive environment.

Dean's knowledge of dog behavior is impressive. He provided invaluable guidance for our reactive German Shepherd, helping us understand how to manage his behavior and make the most of his daycare experience. It’s clear that he genuinely cares about each dog and is dedicated to their well-being.

The facility features spacious outdoor areas where the dogs can play freely and socialize with one another. It’s a fantastic environment for them to burn off energy and enjoy themselves, all while being supervised by the attentive staff. I always feel at ease knowing my pup is in such capable hands.

We had heard the name canine proficiency even before we had a dog! Once we adopted our dog of course we thought hey let's check this place out for our girl... we can't even put into words how much we love this place and so does our dog! She knows when we pull up and gets so excited and can't wait to run inside. Even during drop off she's rushing to get back to her friends. They are so accommodating with text updates when we ask. Oh, I have to mention the pictures! Dean does such AMAZING job with the pictures and trail walk videos. Who knew pictures from doggy daycare could be so awesome! I laugh out loud every time. He manages to capture THE BEST pictures cute and funny!

They truly are the most caring people and I have no second thoughts when we bring our girl here. I know she's having the best day ever. Dean has even offered a couple tips to help with training at pick up (our dog is young and large and is a bit of an excitable jumper) they worked sooo well she has become so much better with her jumping since going. This was such an unexpected but very appreciated touch... I could go on for days about how much we love this place but I'll leave it there. You'll have to check it out for yourself!

This place is amazing. From our first meeting, I knew this was a safe fun place for our bully. Our dog was welcomed with open arms, you can tell the entire team loves and cares for the dogs.

We’ve been boarding our dog Zena here for a few years. We know when we go on vacation she’s in good hands, and having lots of fun! She actually looks forward to it, as she can’t wait to get in.
Our dog Zena is a handful, but they are great with her and you can tell.

Dean is just exceptional. I’m a Vet Med professional and sought Dean out after hearing many good things from people who’ve worked with him. My dog recently started getting out of hand with his resource guarding, which before we were able to manage. Dean promptly responded to me and took the time out of his day to call me and listen to my concerns. He came that same weekend to come and assess the situation. He recommended tools and routines for my dog, and eased my stress about the whole situation. Dean is very experienced so if you’re ever worried your dog is too out of hand- he can handle it. I never once felt judged by our situation. Quite frankly he is a very empathetic and understanding trainer for the amount of things he sees everyday. He communicates with my dog firmly and in a way he understands. He taught us to communicate with our dog, which is such a gift and an anxiety-reliever. My dog is now learning boundaries and impulse control. I’ve never seen him control himself on his own like this before. Dean is so knowledgeable about the bully breed and is actively working to break the stigma around them. He’s helping our dog grow into a calm, well behaved boy that is able to get along with our other dogs- even around things of ‘high value.’ Two of our dogs are usually standoff-ish around new people, but when Dean was coming over they warmed right up to him. He has a calm demeanour that speaks volumes to dogs. Dean was great in following up with us and making sure we’re getting all that we can out of the training. He’s saving lives doing what he does and I will be recommending him to behavioural cases I see at work. Thank you Dean.

I was recommended by a family member to reach out to Dean at the Canine Proficiency Center to help with training my dog. I have a three year-old German Shepherd named Ace who was extremely leash reactive to other dogs (by barking; overly excited), ever since he was a young puppy. I simply was at the point where I couldn’t bring him anywhere that had other dogs in close proximity, which left our options extremely limited and feeling super isolated. I had already tried three different dog trainers at this point, where I was told to use treats to overcome his reactivity and it simply wasn’t working. I reached out to Dean and it was great that he was able to come to my house to do our training sessions, where we were able to go on walks throughout my neighbourhood (which was also something that I was not able to do with my dog). The first tool we tried on my dog was a prong collar, to which he responded positively to. However, we began to notice that the prong collar didn’t seem to be the right correction for him, as his reactivity seemed to still take place. Therefore, our next session we tried using a different tool, which was an E-collar. Dean was great with explaining all of the tools that were used and the proper effective ways to use it on your dog. Dean had asked me where is a place I have always wanted to take my dog on a walk, but felt like I couldn’t and I had said the waterfront. I couldn’t believe the amazing results, as I was finally able to walk my dog down the waterfront for the first time, since he was a little puppy. The positive results were immediate, as this was clearly the most effective tool for my dog. I was overwhelmed with emotion, as I thought I would never be able to get to this point with my dog. Dean truly is an amazing dog trainer with an immense amount of knowledge. He treated me and my dog with extreme kindness, patience and understanding, making it a very positive experience. I now feel like I can provide my dog with the life that he truly deserves and for that I am eternally grateful.

The staff at Canine Proficiency Center are amazing. They take the absolute best care of both of my dogs and I would never even think of taking my pups anywhere else. They are kind, compassionate, caring people and are very helpful. My dogs love going here and have so much fun. My dog absolutely loves this doggy day care! From the moment we pull up, his bum starts swinging back and forth with excitement (he has no tail or else he’d be wagging that lol). Dean, Jessi and Roxanne are incredibly friendly and clearly passionate about caring for the dogs. They offer a great mix of structured activities and playtime, making sure the dogs are both mentally and physically stimulated throughout the day. I love the peace of mind knowing he’s in such good hands, socializing and having fun with other pups. Every time he comes home, he’s happy and tired, which is the best sign of a great day care! Highly recommend!

We've been taking our three dogs to Canine Proficiency Center for daycare and boarding, and they absolutely love it! The staff are amazing and treat our dogs like family. The facility is clean, safe, and has a great big outdoor space for exploring, fun and play. We always feel at ease knowing our dogs are in good hands, and the regular updates with photos and videos are a great bonus. Our dog Bob loves daycare and boarding here where he gets to run around and play with so many dogs! The staff are great; they always get so excited to see our dog and always communicate any concerns in a timely manner. The facilities are clean and it's so refreshing to see the dogs run free everyday on their property. The frequent uploads of photos are an added bonus!! Highly recommend this place!

We have been taking our Samoyed to Canine Proficiency since he was just a puppy and he absolutely loves it there. He is a very social dog that loves to play and the “pack mentality” of this facility has helped him to learn from other dogs how to behave, when to proceed and when to back off. We can safely off leash him around any other dogs and I truly believe his exposure in this environment has contributed to this. When I’m away at work for 12 hours the last thing I want to do is leave my dog alone for that length of time, indoors or locked up. Any boarding/daycare facility that kennels the dogs most of the day just would not be acceptable for us. We chose Canine Proficiency as his daycare because we know he is spending most of his day outside, free to roam and play with an expansive yard. Sully is one of many, many dogs that attend this facility, yet Dean and Jessi have gotten to know and understand him and we wouldn’t trust anyone else to watch over and care for our pup.

We started taking our boy to Canine when he was 3 months old and that was 3 years ago now. The training services when he was a pup helped us so much. He absolutely loves his daycare days and cannot wait to go. With all the playing and pack walks, I pick up one tired boy at the end of the day. When we're on vacation we wouldn't think of leaving him anywhere else. Dean, Jessi and their amazing staff provide such great care and it truly shows your love of dogs and what you do.

Sam loves going there! The staff are amazing and very flexible and accommodating. As a nurse it was impossible to find a doggy day care that offered early drop off and late pick up so I'm very happy :)

Kingsley has been going to the Canine Proficiency Center since he was just a couple of months old and absolutely loves it! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and they genuinely love the dogs in their care! Kingsley loves the social aspect and appreciates the vast outdoor area where he can run and play. As a shift worker I love knowing he is safe and cared for while I'm at work. I highly recommend the Canine Proficiency Center for anyone needing care for their furry companion!

Easily the best doggy daycare. The owners are beyond kind and you can tell they love what they do! They are amazing with the dogs and always put the dogs and their needs first. It’s the only place I trust with my pups, I’ve moved 2 hours away and still make the drive to this daycare because it really is the best!!!

We originally brought our dog Sukie to Canine Proficiency Center to help with some social anxiety she developed during Covid isolations (not enough interactions during lockdowns). The results exceeded all expectations. Not only did they listen to concerns I had before bringing Sukie, they provided updates and photos showing her amazing progress. Anytime we now mention the word “daycare” around Sukie she gets the excited zoomies knowing she is about to have a day running around with her friends. Canine Proficiency Center brought the excitement of interaction back to Sukie.

Dean is seriously the best person ever, and the staff are amazing! I have a dog reactive rescue and was messaging Dean for advice. I am not from the area but was driving by and stopped in. Dean showed me how to use a slip lead and was able to get my dog to walk confidently around other dogs in their kennels with no reaction. He also has worked with the rescue I volunteer with, and re-homed some dogs. He really cares about you and your relationship with your dog and it really shows.
